It may still be November, but February’s comic book covers are already on display. This was a great month for covers, so much so that I couldn’t just narrow it down to the usual 10. So, from absolutely stunning covers to the ones that just made me giggle, here are my top 20 comic book covers for the month of February:
20. Animal Man #6
The premise for this issue (fans get to “watch” the superhero film Buddy Baker starred in) is cool on its own, but Travel Foreman‘s cover really sells the concept.
19. King Conan: Phoenix of the Sword #2
Andrew Robinson always does terrific work. The colors on this are gorgeous.
18. The Punisher #8
The second I saw this, I wanted to know more. That’s the mark of a great cover. Beautiful work from Marco Checchetto.
17. Penguin: Pain and Prejudice #5
I’m going to be sad to see this comic end, but it looks like it’ll be going out with a bang. Here’s hoping DC gives Szymon Kudranski lots more covers after this wraps.
16. Hulk #48
Butch Guice finds a way to make a Red Hulk cover a whole lot more interesting.
15. Wonder Woman #6
This is the Wonder Woman I always wanted to read about, and Cliff Chiang remains one of my favorite artists in comics.
14. Men of War #6
Yet another stunning Men of War cover from Viktor Kalvachev.
13. Fatale #2
Every time I see one of Sean Phillip‘s covers I get more and more excited to read this series.
12. Black Panther #529
The saddest thing about Black Panther being canceled that I won’t get to enjoy Francesco Francavilla‘s covers anymore.
11. Batman #6
This is feels a little more Spawn-esque than Capullo‘s previous Batman covers, but in this case, it’s not a bad thing.
10. Green Wake #10
This comic has made me into a huge Riley Rossmo fan. I can’t imagine a more perfect comic for his style.
9. T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents #4
I’m so glad DC decided to bring T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents back, and I’m thrilled that Rafael Albuquerque‘s breathtaking art is a part of it.
8. Daredevil #9
I can’t praise Daredevil or Paolo Rivera‘s art enough. This cover really showcases what makes the comic special.
7. Demon Knights #6
Demon Knights knows dinosaurs are the way to my heart. It’s great to see Mike Choi doing work for DC.
6. The Goon #38
Dave Stewart is one of my favorite colorists in the business, and it’s great to see him work with Eric Powell.
5. Frankenstein, Agent of S.H.A.D.E.
J.G. Jones has been killing it on these Frankenstein covers. Love the use of color here.
4. Reed Gunther #8
I can’t stop smiling when I look at this. Well played, Chris Houghton.
3. Journey into Mystery #634
Journey into Mystery always has gorgeous covers. I love the painted look of Stephanie Hans‘ work. The scales are my favorite part.
2. Deadpool Max II #5
I don’t think Deadpool has ever looked better. Kyle Baker has delivered a cover that’s both hilarious and visually striking.
1. The Flash #6
Every month, I think Francis Manapul‘s Flash covers can’t get any better, and every month, they do. Absolutely beautiful.
