The formerly untitled Snow White project by Tarsem Singh has gotten a name now! It’s going to be Mirror, Mirror.
The movie, which will be starred by Lily Collins, Armie Hammer, Julia Roberts and Sean Bean, is scheduled for release in March of next year. Lily Collins takes on the role of an exiled princess that joins up with seven rebels to win back her throne – which has been usurped by an evil queen (Julia Roberts).
Tarsem Singh, the director, said that his preferred name would have been Snow, but that it wasn’t really up to him. The movie is also being described by the director as “sickeningly kiddie”, more of a children’s tale than what we’re seeing show up in Snow White and the Huntsman, which looks far more like its going to be a PG-13 type of thing. Here’s what Tarsem Singh had to say about the themes and tone of the movie:
They asked me if I wanted to make it edgy and I said, ‘No interest, absolutely no interest’. It’s a children’s movie, but my stuff tends to be polarizing. When it’s for children, it’s like, sickeningly kiddie, and when it’s the other way, it’s sickeningly graphic for people. Both are OK for me. It’s comme ci comme ça that I’m terrified of.
It looks like a pretty interesting movie, but not something that I’ll be queueing up for at the cinema.
