Staying Gold: Official CN Site Brings Back Toonami Page

While poking around Cartoon Network’s official website I came upon something interesting; a page for the old Toonami program block

Currently the only things on this part of the site are 3 videos: the Tom 4 (Steve Blum) opening, a Toonami 10 Year Recap, and Tom’s farewell message. Two of these are labeled as being “Just Added”.

Is the Cartoon Network website simply paying tribute to its past programs or gearing up for something more? Could we be getting a new Toonami?

For those not familiar with Toonami it was an action/adventure programming block on Cartoon Network that ran from 1997 and lasted for 11 years. Not just re-running shows form the 80s like G.I. Joe and Thundercats or re-airing cartoon Network’s popular original shows like Samurai Jack & The Powerpuff Girls, Toonami was a big driving force for anime in America. Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z, numerous Gundam series and even the current Naruto all first aired on Toonami.

Sound designer Joe Boyd Vigil composed most of the music for the promos and intros which were actually very artistic for what are basically commercials.

I could go on about Toonami but I think I’ll save that for another post. For now I leave you with a few videos to show you why a new iteration of it would be so great. Hopefully the revolution will be televised again.

In a fight to the death; which of the following do you think would emerge victorious?
