Rocksteady working on a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?

The internet is exploding today with rumours that Rocksteady, developer of the Batman: Arkham series of games, is working on a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle game called Manhattan Crisis.

A very interesting rumour indeed with the game being set very similar to the Batman: Arkham City world but in the world of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It would be a good fit for the franchise and would appear to make sense on the surface.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

HERO turtles. Not Ninja.

However having worked myself at Rocksteady in North London for a while I can tell you that I would find it very hard to find this rumour to be fruitious.

My reason for thinking so are that Rocksteady have built up a very strong relationship with  Warner Brothers, the publisher of the previous Arkham games. Warner Brothers have also recently been pushing to gain more ground in the games industry, with Rocksteady being the jewel in their crown. Lastly, we have the fact that why wouldn’t Rocksteady want to follow up on the huge success of Arkham City with another Batman-themed game? In the current turbulent economic UK games industry, venturing into new areas would be a big risk to take for Rocksteady when they could churn out another Batman game and sell a few more million copies.

Still … We can all dream can’t we? Also; they are named Rocksteady after all; a TMNT villain.
