Panels of the Week – Week of 1/18/12

Once again, it’s Wednesday, which means it’s time to count down the best of last week’s panels! From fantasy improv to a technologically impaired Batman, this comics of this week found plenty of ways to stun, scare, and entertain. Here are the 10 best panels of the week.

10. Nightwing #5

Nightwing #5

An absence of heat? Never when you're around, Nightwing~

It’s always cool to see what things look like from the other side of the domino mask. I really like the colors here.

9. Generation Hope #15

Generation Hope #15

That's one way of letting folks know they shouldn't be messing.

A little something for all the Phoenix fanboys out there. You know who you are.

8. Fables #113

Fables #113

And now, I need a volunteer from the audience...

Magical improv with talking animals is something the comic world needs more of.

7. Uncanny X-Men #5

Uncanny X-Men #5

Why are we walking like this?

I want to read a comic where the X-Men do nothing but communicate in poorly typed, all-caps emails.

6. Wonder Woman #5

Wonder Woman #5

You're looking rather....blue today.

Wonder Woman keeps on getting better and better. Diana really feels like the demigod that she is.

5. Chew #23

Chew #23

We all have days like this. Though maybe without the owl in the background.

The computer screen was the first thing to make me laugh out loud this week.

4. Batman Odyssey #4

Batman Odyssey #4

I believe it's a series of tubes, Mr. Batman.

Batman Odyssey continues to make no sense and I love every second of it. It was truly hard to pick just one delightfully nonsensical panel from this issue.

3. Tiny Titans #48

Tiny Titans #48

The only thing this is missing is dinosaurs.

This was pretty much the inside of my mind when I was 5.

2. Batman #5

Batman #5

Owls! Why did it have to be owls?!?

One of the most jawdropping moments in a truly amazing comic. Scott Snyder wasn’t kidding when he talked about Bruce being betrayed by Gotham.

1. Daredevil #8

Daredevil #8

Fall into a vat on the way home and you're golden.

Kudos to Mark Waid for making me remember why I like Spider-Man/Daredevil team ups so much. They had a lot of great moments together in this issue, but this was the best of the bunch, and my number one panel of the week.
