Marvel Comics have just announced their big summer crossover event for 2012, and it’s a doozy! We’re going to be sitting down to enjoy The Avengers … Vs. The X-Men!
You know, even if this were an episode of Deathmatch of Death and More Death, I couldn’t have made it more epic than this. According to USA Today, it’ll all start off [...]
[...] in a special “zero issue” prologue in March written by Bendis and Aaron, Avengers vs. X-Men begins the next month with an extinction-level event barreling its way toward Earth, namely the cosmic entity of death and rebirth known as the Phoenix Force. It’s looking for a new host who will possess all of its power, which may or may not be the mutant teenager Hope Summers.
Cyclops, Wolverine, Magneto and the other X-Men want to protect her and prepare her if she’s to be the new Phoenix. Captain America, Iron Man, Spider-Man and their fellow Avengers want her handed over to them so they can figure out what to do with her and keep the world safe from a potentially fiery fate.
While there seem to be holes in this plot large enough to drive a truck through, I’m interested in seeing what happens here. We’ve had a couple of amazing crossover events over the last couple of years, and this one doesn’t seem to be an exception.
The event will be a twice-a-month 12-issue limited series, available in comic stores and digital form on the same date. If you chose to buy the print issue, a free digital copy of the issue will be available for download at no additional cost.
