Major Names in Technology Speak Out Against SOPA

Just yesterday, nine of the biggest companies in the world of tech took out a full page advertisement in the New York Times to explain what they thought was wrong with SOPA, a piece of legislation that Congress is on the verge of passing.

In the letter, Google, Facebook, Mozilla, Zynga, Twitter, AOL, eBay, Yahoo and LinkedIn, explain why SOPA – the Stop Online Piracy Act – is a bad idea. While all the companies on the list are in full support of new tools to combat websites that do nothing other than infringe on copyright, they believe – rightly – that this new legislation is not the right way to go.
