Lily Collins in talks for Evil Dead Remake

High weirdness is about. The three movies in The Evil Dead saga, starring Bruce Campbell, have long been rumored to be getting a remake, and many people have been wondering what actor would be getting Bruce’s iconic role. Now it turns out it might not be that simple.

You see, the role might be going to Lily Collins, currently best known for being the token hot girl in Abduction and Priest and the upcoming role of Snow White in Mirror Mirror. The actress is currently in early discussions with FilmDistrict, who are in charge of remaking Sam Raimi‘s original.

The character’s name would be Mia, and would correspond to Ash in the original movie. Mia, according to the available information, would be one of five people who head to the remote cabin to find themselves way over their head as evil things begin to happen.

To be honest, I’m not entirely sure I like the idea of them remaking The Evil Dead in the first place, but if they chose to replace Bruce with Lily, they might as well be making a completely new movie that has nothing to do with the original, as far as I’m concerned.

Kids out in a cabin where bad things happen is a fairly common trope in horror movies, and if they just avoid calling it The Evil Dead and don’t use the Necronomicon as the MacGuffin, I’m all for this. I’m not entirely sold on Lily Collins as an actress quite yet, having been slightly less than impressed with her in Abduction and Priest, but I suppose Mirror Mirror will go a long way to say what she’s like as a lead actress.
