Happy Birthday, Lauren German!

Lauren German turns 33 today! Happy Birthday, Lauren!

Lauren German

While I first discovered her in last year’s fantastically underrated and canceled television series Happy Town, Lauren began her acting career in 2000, with the role “Lovestruck Woman” in Down to You. Since Happy Town was such an amazing show (and I still cry myself to sleep some nights, remembering how abruptly it was taken from us), I kept an eye open for the actors of the series, waiting for them to turn up elsewhere.

Sam Neill, of course, is appearing in upcoming Alcatraz. Amy Acker had a brief two-episode ark on No Ordinary Family. Geoff Stults is one of the leads in Bones-spinoff The Finder. Steven Weber was great on Falling Skies and Warren Christie is a regular on Alphas.

That just left Lauren.

For a long time, I wondered if she was transitioning to movies, and – since I have to admit to having no real interest in following her career – I kind of gave up on her … until season two of Hawaii Five-0 began. Terry O’Quinn was my biggest draw in returning to a series that I only thought was mildly better than most police procedurals out there (I still prefer NCIS and The Mentalist, for example), so I was surprised to see a familiar name rolling by in the introductory ‘Also Starring’-roll of episode two, Ua Lawe Wale. Turns out Lauren German is a new recurring regular on the show!

For those more interested in post-apocalyptic psychological horror, Lauren German will also be seen alongside Milo Ventimiglia and Michael Biehn in The Divide, a movie coming January 13th.
