During the past days I’ve been stuck in a new addiction. That addiction has been Glitch. Glitch is a new, not very exciting, adorable and time consuming MMO that take place inside the head of eleven giants.
In this game, you get to create your own little glitch that ventures out to shape the world of fantastic scenery by inventing and creating. With the ability to learn different skills, you get better and better at shaping your – and everybody else’s – world. Since the world is shared with everyone that plays the game, the trees you decide to plant are there for the rest of the glitches as well.
The game is free to play if you want it to be. By adding a subscription to the game, you get more variety in customizing your glitch and you get to choose from more clothes. If that isn’t enough, you can always spend more money on clothes or teleportation tokens for your glitch. The game stays the same, though, whether you play for free or if you don’t.
In the big world there is a lot for a little glitch to do:
- Harvesting and planting trees. Remember to water them and give them some love from time to time!
- Breed little animals like pigs that will let you nibble on them to give you some meat from time to time – if you’re kind to them.
- You can invent and make stuff with skills such as alchemy, smelting and tinkering. You can also improve your cooking skills to make more nutritious food.
- If the world becomes a hard place, why not learn meditative arts to help you relax and gain some energy?
- There are also quests. Every now and then – or when you learn a new skill – you get a new quest; some you do on your own and some you need to do together with other glitches.
Like I said; the game can be time consuming if you let it. For me; I’ve been home sick which gave me way too much time to spend on a new game (or just enough). Don’t get me wrong, though; the days have been very pleasant and I must say that playing Glitch has been a perfect way to spend them. I still haven’t managed to explore all the places and my Glitch still has a lot to learn. The big question is; will the game last in the long run? What can the game offer me once I’m tired of walking around from place to place harvesting fruit and mining rocks?
The fact that you can add friends in-game and the availability of chat helps the game to last longer. That my glitch can learn skills even when I’m not logged in to the game will help me continue to do that when there is too much work to do. You don’t have to log in every day; you won’t miss anything if you take a break and that is something which I regard as big plus.
I’m still not sure if it will last, great as it is at the moment. I hope it will, and I can highly recomend others to try it out. Read more about the game, or see the trailer right here.
